Came across this news article today about compression technique called ABO. I had heard about Adaptive Bitplane Optimizatio, a couple of months ago but this article throws more light on it.Like for the fact that it was invented by another thyagarajan 🙂 [‘i’ is missing].
I am going to explore this more, I remember vaguely about hearing about bitplane coding during my Image Processing course.
